Don't Let Go is directed by Jacob Aaron Estes and stars David Oyelowo, Storm Reid, Byron Mann, and Mykelti Williamson. The plot of the movie is after a man's family dies in what appears to be a murder, he gets a phone call from one of the dead, his niece. He's not sure if she's a ghost or if he's going mad, but as it turns out, he's not. The best part of this movie is David Oyelowo he is incredible in this role and even in scenes that are not written well from a character perspective he makes them watchable. The first act of the movie when this murder happens and discovering this interesting connection that happens is very mysterious, and I was having a great time watching it. At some point, the movie becomes a series of phone calls and that is about all this movie has going for it. For the first 40 minutes, that time crossed phone call that happens is really compelling. Unfortunately, they keep doing the same thing. It is just a lot of phone calls and a lot of attempts to change things and at some point, the plot gets very difficult to follow. The only characters in this movie that I cared about were Jack played by David Oyelowo and Ashley played by Storm Reid. Once the twist of the movie happens it becomes confusing and even though the characters are great I just didn't care anymore because it's hard to follow. It is around the halfway point that a switch happens and then something else happens and it suffers from the same issues a lot of time travel movies do where nothing really makes sense anymore and you could pick holes in it forever. The movie is at least watchable because of the two lead performances. 3 out of 5 stars for Don't Let Go. I hope you enjoyed my review.
