Dumbo is directed by Tim Burton and stars Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, and Alan Arkin. The plot of the movie is a young elephant, whose oversized ears enable him to fly, helps save a struggling circus, but when the circus plans a new venture, Dumbo and his friends discover dark secrets beneath the shiny veneer. I was never a big fan of the original animated film, so I wasn't super excited to see this movie. Also, I am not a fan of Tim Burton, so this movie had two big problems already that it had to overcome. This was an extremely tedious movie to sit through and the longer to went on the more annoyed I got. The performances in this movie are not great which is really disappointing since this movie has an amazing cast. It felt like no one knew what movie they were in, especially Michael Keaton I don't know what the hell he was doing, but it was embarrassing to watch. Colin Farrell does his best, but I never felt like he was suited for the part. Danny DeVito Was the only person that I felt knew exactly what kind of movie he was in. It is really troubling that the most human character in the movie was the CG elephant. All the human character felt one-dimensional and fake, but Dumbo is a very likable character. They did a wonderful job bringing this character to life. The relationship between Dumbo and his mother is fantastic. I was a lot more interested in those scenes. The human characters take up way to much time they aren't interesting, and they aren't emotionally engaging. Like I mentioned it is a chore to sit through and the longer it went the more annoyed I got. 1 out of 5 stars for Dumbo. I hope you enjoyed my review.
