Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law. The plot of the movie is Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. I was really excited to see this movie since Captain Marvel is going to play a big part in Avengers: Endgame. There are parts of this movie that are entertaining specifically the chemistry between Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson which lead to some of the funniest scenes in the movie. The two play off each other very well. The CGI de-aging that was done to Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg was fantastic to the point where I didn't even notice it. I also liked parts of the opening moments where she the training with Jude Law's character. There is this fight scene where she has these metal braces on her hands, and she has to punch people really hard to try and get them off that was my favorite fight in the movie. The majority of the movie, however, is disappointing. Visually the film is very dull. There is a fight scene in a spaceship where it is very dark and that makes it hard to tell what is going on. Other than that opening action scene the rest of the fight scenes are not exciting. The villains of the film are Scrolls they can turn into anyone this leads to a very entertaining chase scene with Nick Fury trying to catch up to a train that Captain Marvel is trying to infiltrate. Other than that scene the potential of what they could have done with the Scrolls was wasted. The biggest problem with the film and what scares me going into Avengers: Endgame is Brie Larson she did a great job in the scenes between Captain Marvel and Nick Fury, but in every other scene she is very wooden. 2 out of 5 stars for Captain Marvel. I hope you enjoyed my review.
