Mortal Engines is directed by Christian Rivers and stars Hugo Weaving, Hera Hilmar, Robert Sheehan, Jihae, Ronan Raftery, Patrick Malahide, and Stephen Lang. The plot of the movie is in a post-apocalyptic world where cities ride on wheels and consume each other to survive, two people meet in London and try to stop a conspiracy. The main reason I wanted to see this movie was because the screenplay was written by Peter Jackson who directed The Lord of the Ring films. The film is beautiful to look at, but it is pretty dull when it comes to everything else. I didn't care about a single character in this movie. They try to go into the backstory of the characters, but all of it feels so derivative of other things. Mortal Engines feels like the conclusion of a series, but there are no movies that came before this. The film takes itself way too seriously so you can't even have fun watching it. The attempts at humor fall flat and the beautiful visuals are pretty much wasted because you just don't give a shit about anything that is happening. 1 out of 5 stars for Mortal Engines. I hope you enjoyed my review.
