Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is directed by David Yates and stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoe Kravitz, Callum Turner, Carmen Ejogo, Claudia Kim, Kevin Guthrie, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp. This is the second installment of the Fantastic Beasts series set in J. K. Rowling's Wizarding World featuring the adventures of magizoologist Newt Scamander.    I was not a fan of the first Fantastic Beasts movie, but this trailer gave me hope.  The only scene in this movie I truly enjoyed was the opening where Grindelwald who is being held prisoner in New York is being transferred back to London. It was intense and exciting. The rest of the film I found relentlessly boring.  This movie takes so many characters and so many different subplots and overstuffs the movie with so much happening that it can be difficult to follow.  The characters are again not that interesting in my opinion. People seem like they are not even trying.  The one actor who was good was Jude Law as Dumbledore the movie really did need a lot more of him. He is not in it too much.   Johnny Depp as Grindelwald is fine he's not as over-the-top as he usually is, but it felt like he didn't bring that much to his character. The material he was given there wasn't much to work with. He has none of that snaky slimy evil that Ralph Fiennes had as Voldemort.  The real crime of this film is that it will put people to sleep I have no idea how I managed to stay awake.  The ending I guess is supposed to be shocking that is what I've hard anyway, but I was just glad the movie was finally over. I am dreading having to sit through three more of these movies.  1 out of 5 stars for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. I hope you enjoyed my review.
