FIRST MAN MOVIE REVIEW
First Man is directed by Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, Jason Clark Corey Stoll, and Kyle Chandler. The movie is a look at the life of the astronaut, Neil Armstrong, and the legendary space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969. My fear going into this movie was that it was going to be more about the mission than the life of Neil Armstrong and fortunately this movie definitely more about the man. Damien Chazelle definitely chose the right actor to play this role. Ryan Gosling gives one of the best performances I have seen from him. He never tries to steal the spotlight and gives the other actor plenty of opportunities to play off of him. The performance is emotionally explosive at certain times, but not overly so since Neil Armstrong didn't like to show that side of himself to people. The rest of the cast is terrific as well Clarie Foy is fantastic as Neil's wife in the film I loved the scenes with her and Ryan Gosling they have a great dynamic together. She was supportive, but also very caring and concerning. Damien Chazelle is an extremely talented director and I love his creative choices thought this film. This is a very well made movie. The sound design is incredible I felt like I was in the spacecraft. He knows when to use suspense and tension. Even though we know the outcome I was still on the edge of my set and I wasn't expecting that. Visually the movie is beautiful one of the best-looking films I have seen all year. The music in the film is also great especially when they are about to land on the moon. It's hard to take a story that we know the outcome too and make it feel like something we haven't seen. I found no flaws with this movie. I enjoyed every minute of it and it is one of my favorite movies of the year. 5 out of 5 stars for First Man. I hope you enjoyed my review.
