Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is directed by J.A. Bayona and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, James Cromwell, Toby Jones, Ted Levine, B.D. Wong, Isabella Sermon, Geraldine Chaplin, and Jeff Goldblum. The plot of the movie is when the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen and Claire mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.    I loved Jurassic World I thought it was the best of the Jurassic Park sequels so I was excited to see this one. I ended up being extremely disappointed this film did a lot of things wrong and very little right.  This movie doesn't have any memorable sequences like Jurassic Park or Jurassic World.  This film makes a choice about halfway through to become a different type of film which was spoiled for me because it was in the trailer, in fact, the majority of the movie is in the final trailer.   I'm going to give a mild spoiler warning if you do not know what happens after the volcano erupts that was in the first trailer. I'm about to talk about where the film goes after that and since the trailers have shown it I don't really consider it a spoiler.   A rich older man is near death and he feels that he is responsible in a way and so he is founding this team that goes to the island to rescue the dinosaurs. In reality, they are going back to this mansion and there are some evil greedy corporate schemes that are happening and the rest of the film takes place in this mansion.    It basically becomes a monster movie in a big house.  This could have been good. The direction is far better than the screenplay which was very messy and had no interesting characters.  The things I remember most about Jurassic Park are the conversations the characters had, for example, the debate around the table about whether the dinosaurs should be brought back.  There's so much character in that movie plus awesome dinosaurs. This movie is just dinosaurs creeping around and that's it.    Chris Pratt's character Owen is likable because it is Chris Pratt, but his character has no development. Bryce Dallas Howard is okay in the movie she didn't do anything that memorable.  Jeff Goldblum is back as Ian Malcolm I was excited about that, but he is in two very quick scenes.  The villains are just some assholes who just want money like we have all seen a million times.    At the beginning of the film, there is a moral dilemma do we save these creatures from extinction do they have that right since they were created by man. The film basically talks about that for maybe two minutes and then forgets about it.  The action scenes are okay, but none of them are amazing.  The film feels like a placeholder just so they could make Jurassic World 3 which I have zero interest in.  2 out of 5 stars for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. I hope you enjoyed my review.
