TOMB RAIDER MOVIE REVIEW
Tomb Raider is directed by Roar Uthaug and stars Alicia Vikander, Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, and Kristin Scott Thomas. The plot of the movie is Lara Croft, the fiercely independent daughter of a missing adventurer must push herself beyond her limits when she finds herself on the island where her father disappeared. I didn't know anything about Tomb Raider going into this movie. I have never played the video games. This movie is not perfect, but I was able to have fun with it. Alicia Vikander I thought was very good as the main character Lara Croft. She does very well in the action scenes and they make it very easy to like this character. When she is going to the island she is paired up with a guy named Lu Ren played by Daniel Wu and when he first was introduced I found him annoying, but by the end, I liked this character more than I thought I would. He provides some comic relief. The villain of this movie is Mathias Vogel played by Walton Goggins this was the one character that I thought was pretty weak. They do give him a backstory that ties him to Lara's father, but I wasn't that interested in that. I liked the relationship between Lara and her father there are some good emotional moments between the two. When I saw the trailer for this movie I thought the stuff when she is on the mainland was going to be the weakest part of the movie. While there are entertaining moments in that part of the film for the majority of it I was bored which is a big problem because that is 40 minutes of the movie. There are also moments when she is on the island that the movie slows down, but it is not as bad as the first 40 minutes. 3 out of 5 stars for Tomb Raider. I hope you enjoyed my review.
