A WRINKLE IN TIME MOVIE REVIEW
A Wrinkle in Time is directed by Ava DuVernay and stars Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Pena, Storm Reid, Zach Galifianakis, and Chris Pine. The plot of the movie is after the disappearance of her scientist father, three peculiar beings send Meg, her brother and a friend to space in order to find him. I honestly thought that this movie could have been good. It had that classic Disney adventure feel to it. The Visual effects looked pretty cool. The CG in this world is really cool looking. Of all the characters in this movie, I only liked two of them. The main character Meg played by Storm Reid is excellent and I look forward to seeing her in other movies that are hopefully a lot better than this. I thought she did very well with the emotional scenes. I also liked Chris Pine's character. He is not in this film a lot, but I enjoyed the scenes with him and his daughter. Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling's characters I felt could have been left out of this movie completely. I didn't feel like they added anything. Reese Witherspoon's character was a complete moron. Mindy Kaling's character only speaks in quotes from famous people in the real world and it gets old really quickly. Oprah was fine, but her character is forgettable. Levi Miller plays Calvin a friend of Meg's. There is a scene where he is face to face with her and he just says I like your hair and the way he says it he comes off as a stalker. This script is awful random things would happen and if I had not read the book I would have no idea why the hell they were happening. This movie is like a Disney Channel original movie, but with a bigger budget. 2 out of 5 stars for A Wrinkle in Time. I hope you enjoyed my review.
