THE MAZE RUNNER MOVIE REVIEW
The Maze Runner is directed by Wes Ball and stars Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Will Poulter and Patricia Clarkson. The plot of the movie is Thomas is deposited in a community of boys after his memory is erased, soon learning they're all trapped in a maze that will require him to join forces with fellow "runners' for a shot at escape. This is a pretty well-directed movie with a great lead performance by Dylan O'Brien. The movie opens very intensely he's on this elevator leading up to this place and all of a sudden all these young kids are looking at him. He has no idea where he is and he has to learn all the rules. The maze sequences are very impressive and a little suspenseful. All the stuff with the griever creatures I liked a lot, even though the CGI was a little obvious. The adversary relationship between Dylan O'Brien and Will Poulter's characters add a lot to this movie. I do have some big problems with the movie first is the characters besides Dylan O'Brien's character Thomas and Will Poulter's character Gally everyone else was bland and forgettable. I also hated the way this movie ended. This ending may have worked in the book, but it's the filmmaker's job to make it work for the big screen and I felt that certain things did not work at all. My biggest problem was when you finally find out what is happening why everyone can't remember things and what they are doing there it was very predictable. The movie does look beautiful, some of the action scenes are well filmed and some of the acting isn't bad. Other than that I was very disappointed by this movie. 2 out of 5 stars for The Maze Runner. I hope you enjoyed my review.
