Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is directed by Wes Ball and stars Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Giancarlo Esposito, Aidan Gillen, Ki Hong Lee, Barry Pepper, Lili Taylor, and Patricia Clarkson. The plot of the movie is after having escaped the Maze, the Gladers now face a new set of challenges on the open roads of a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles.    I did not like the first Maze Runner so I was not looking forward to watching this one, however for about the first half of this movie I had a great time. Dylan O'Brien was great once again. He is good in the action scenes and he's good in the smaller more subtle stuff. Also, there is a lot of intense running as you would expect with a movie called Maze Runner. There's a stunt really early on in this movie that I thought was very well done where a character slides under a door that is closing at just the right second. Throughout the first hour, I was constantly surprised by how much I was enjoying it.      Then the movie introduces us to a new faction of people that we are supposed to care about and maybe they were more fleshed out in the book, but in the film, I didn't give a shit. There is a strange party scene where everyone is getting drunk and having visions. Also for the first half of the film, the monsters were practical, but once it got to the second half they were CGI. The film is 2 hours and 10 minutes and this second half really slows things down. The movie also doesn't feel that original.  3 out of 5 stars for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. I hope you enjoyed my review.
