IT MOVIE REVIEW
IT is directed by Andy Mushietti and stars Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Olff, and Bill Skarsgard. The plot of the movie is a group of bullied kids band together when a monster, taking the appearance of a clown, begins hunting children. This movie is based on the novel by Stephen King which I love. I was very excited to see this movie and I enjoyed everything about it. The movie does justice to the strengths of the book and very wisely doesn't include parts of the book that didn't work. In the book, you read about these characters as children and adults. This film just focuses on them as children dealing with the things they are most afraid of. The film doesn't spend a lot of time with each character unless it has something to do with their fear. You don't learn much about their home lives unless it is integral to learning about what they are afraid of. This is important for the Beverly character because her home life is awful. With the other kids, the focus is on whatever they are most afraid of whether that is germs or the way their parents died or the way their brother died whatever smells like the tastiest bait for Pennywise. The performances from everyone are fantastic. Usually, I find kid actors to be extremely annoying which would have been a big problem for this movie. Thankfully all of these kids are likable, they have great chemistry with each other and you care about every one of them. The movie has a lot of humor in it and it is all very funny the funniest line in the movie is said by Eddie and it has to do with his medication. The standout is Sophia Lillis she plays Beverly. You can see that she is one of the strongest members of The Losers Club and she goes through some of the toughest things in this film and she pulls it off very well I am looking forward to seeing more from her. Also, Finn Wolfhard as Richie is hilarious all of his lines had me laughing. The most important thing about this film though is Pennywise is he unintentionally funny or is he terrifying. Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise is very scary the way he looks and sounds is really creepy. In my opinion, he is one of the greatest horror movie villains of all time. If you have a fear of clowns this will do nothing to help. IT defiantly earns its R rating there is some disturbing shit in this movie. I am really happy with how this movie turned out. IT is one of my favorite movies of the year. I am excited for chapter 2. 5 out of 5 stars for IT. I hope you enjoyed my review.
