DESPICABLE ME 3 MOVIE REVIEW
Despicable Me 3 is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda and stars Steve Carell, Kristen Wig, and Trey Parker. The plot of the movie is Gru, meets his long-lost brother Dru who wants to team up with him for one last criminal heist. I re-watched the first two movies to get ready for this one. I really enjoyed the first one and the second was a huge letdown. So I was skeptical going into this and leaving it I felt that it was just OK. It does have a lot of good humor. It has a surprising amount of adult humor. One of my main issues with the movie is despite its adult humor and mature themes it only makes jokes about those things it doesn't really go for the emotion that they could have gotten out of some of those storylines. For example, the two brothers Gru and Dru they were separated at birth and their parents are divorced, but both parents liked the other kid more, but the parents got the wrong child. There could be a lot of depth there, but it's just mentioned in one scene and they never go anywhere with it. Steve Carell as Gru is always funny so I was interested in seeing what he would do with this new character Dru. This character is so irritating that I was missing the minions. The minions do have a smaller role like they did in the first and I found a lot of what they did to be pretty funny. This one has Gru's wife Lucy trying to bond with the girls and I did enjoy all of those scenes There is a funny part when one of the girls Agnes wants to catch a unicorn and I loved that everyone was afraid to tell her unicorns aren't real. The main villain of the film is voiced by Trey Parker he plays a character named Balthazar Bratt he was on a TV show that got canceled. He's very obsessed with that TV show and wonders why it never won any awards. You get to see some clips from it and it is funny, but after a while, it felt like the film was just recycling the exact same humor with that character. Young kids will love this and Adults will have some stuff to laugh at. It's not as good as the first one, but I did like it better than the last one. 3 out of 5 stars for Despicable Me 3. I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope it helped you decide whether to see the movie or not.
