Alien: Resurrection is directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and stars Sigourney Weaver, Winona Ryder, Ron Perlman, Dan Hedaya, J.E. Freeman, Brad Dourif, and Michael Wincott. The plot of the movie is two centuries after her death, Ellen Ripley is revived as a powerful human/alien hybrid clone who must continue her war against the aliens. When Alien: Resurrection is brought up most people say that it is the worst in the series and I have to agree with them this is a stupid movie. The setup for this movie has so many plot holes that I would not be surprised if Fox came in and messed with the script just like they did with Alien 3. The first big plot hole is how did they get Ripley's DNA the last time we saw Ellen Ripley she threw herself into a burning furnace 200 years ago. There would be no trace of her DNA left anywhere and even if there was why would they keep it around for 200 years. The second plot hole is the alien inside of her. There is no way they would be able to clone the Alien Queen that was living inside of her. That is a completely different entity from Ripley herself. Moving past that to the characters none of them are that interesting a lot of the characters do really stupid things like taking one company employee who has clearly been impregnated with an alien and decided to keep him around. Then later on when the alien comes out of his chest and they have to kill him you think you guys should have killed him before if you get impregnated by a xenomorph your dead. There are only two characters that stand out and they stand out for all the wrong reasons. The first is Ripley played again by Sigourney Weaver she just seems bored with this series at this point. I can't say I blame her after these last two movies I'm bored with this series also. The second is call played by Winona Ryder every time she delivers a line it sounds like a five-year-old throwing a temper tantrum. This movie is also very unintentionally funny there is a scene where Brad Dourif who plays one of the scientists. He is taking care of one of the aliens and the alien is looking at him through the glass so he decides to push his face against the glass and make faces at it. I thought what the fuck am I watching. It's so weird watching a movie series like this go so bizarrely bad, but next Ridley Scott returns to direct the first Alien prequel Prometheus. Hopefully having the original director back will help. 0 out of 5 stars for Alien: Resurrection. I hope you enjoyed my review.
