Power Rangers is directed by Dean Israelite and stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bill Hader, Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Banks. The plot of the movie is a group of high-school students, who are infused with unique superpowers, harness their abilities in order to save the world.    I would watch Power Rangers all the time as a kid and I have good memories of the show. Just like the two most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies I was expecting this to be bad and just like those two movies I had fun watching this movie. The five main actors are surprisingly really good and they have great chemistry with each other. One of my favorite scenes in this movie is a campfire sequence were they all have a hart-to-hart with one another and they connect.    Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa gives a very over-the-top performance.  Her performance is so ridiculous it took me out of the movie.     The action scenes are a lot of fun to watch. Bryan Cranston who voiced some of the monsters in the original show voices Zordon and he does a great job.    I think people who are fans of Power Rangers will enjoy it and even people who have never seen it might enjoy it.  3 out of 5 stars for Power Rangers. I hope you enjoyed my review.

Life is directed by Daniel Espinosa and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ryan Reynolds. The plot of the movie is a team of scientists aboard the international space station discover a rapidly evolving life form that caused extinction on Mars, and now threatens the crew and life on Earth.    Going into Life I had no idea what to expect I did not see any of the trailers for this movie so I went in knowing nothing. I had a blast watching this film it was very suspenseful.  This is a very good looking movie all the stuff in space, the way earth looks and the entity that eventually develops all looks beautiful. Whenever there is a lot of CG in a film it can suck you out of the film if it is not convincing enough thankfully that is not the case with this film.   All the actors are excellent the stand out is Rebecca Ferguson. I was disappointed in Jake Gyllenhaal's character there isn't that much to him he has a hatred for humanity. He doesn't really want to go back to Earth. He's about to set a record for most days spent in space. So besides the fact that he is antisocial, there isn't much to him.  This movie had me on edge throughout. I was very surprised by Life and I think that has to do with the fact that I knew nothing about it.  4 out of 5 stars for Life. I hope you enjoyed my review.

Beauty and the Beast is directed by Bill Condon and stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Audra McDonald, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thompson. It is a live adaptation of the 1991 animated classic. This was my most anticipated movie of the year and going into it I was worried that my expectations were too high. I absolutely loved this movie it follows the animated version very closely. They did add a few new songs and a few new scenes and some story elements are changed.    Bill Condon has made a beautiful looking movie all of the sets and costumes are stunning. What I was worried about most was the look of the Beast and the enchanted objects they looked a lot better in motion then they did in the photos.   This movie was cast brilliantly. Emma Watson was great as Belle she makes her character so easy to like and her singing was great. I loved Dan Stevens as the Beast. In this film, the prince is cursed as an adult and he retains his intellect. He's Literate he loves books so he has a connection with Belle now. Luke Evens as Gaston was so entertaining and I think he was a lot more evil in this version. Josh Gad plays LeFou and he does a fantastic job and has a lot of funny moments. There was a lot of controversy about Disney choosing to make him a gay character. It's really not that big of a deal there are one or two moments and they are over pretty quickly, so I think this idea of a theater not showing the film is stupid. All of the actors who voice the enchanted objects do a very good job the standout is Ian McKellen as Cogsworth. He has the funniest line towards the end of the movie.    All the songs that we love are in this film it has the original composer from the 1991 film and he composed new songs. My favorite song was Be our guest.    I am so happy that this film was just as good as I wanted it to be. I'm glad that they didn't go crazy with the changes the few they made were just fine and in every case, I felt improvements. Also, I am glad that they explain something that has always bugged me about the animated film, but that's a spoiler I guess. This might be because I just saw this, but I think I might like this version more than the original I'll see if I still feel the same way at the end of the year.  5 out of 5 stars for Beauty and the Beast. I hope you enjoyed my review.

Kong: Skull Island is directed by Jordan Vogt Roberts and stars Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson, and John C. Reily. The plot of the movie is a team of scientists explore an uncharted island in the Pacific, venturing into the domain of the mighty Kong, and must fight to escape a primal Eden.    There are some good sequences in this movie when King Kong is fighting other monsters that are entertaining. That is all that is enjoyable about this film. The characters in this movie are some of the most uninteresting characters I have seen in a while. So when these people are put in a dangerous situation I didn't care.    We meet Tom Hiddleston's character in a bar he takes a few guys out with a pool stick and the whole scene is poorly edited. He does have a scene where he tells Brie Larson's character something that happened in his past. I suspect that the scene was just in there because they realized that they need to develop at least one of these characters. Brie Larson's character is a photographer that's all there is to her she spends a lot of the movie taking pictures. John C. Reily has been on the island for a while and you do learn a lot about him.    Despite the fact this movie, for the most part, was shot in real locations a lot of it looks like it was shot on a green screen. Almost all attempts at humor fall flat. John C. Reily and Samuel L. Jackson get a few laughs, but it's basically because the actors are so likable and funny  This movie was very disappointing I didn't like a lot of the characters, Kong has one awesome scene and that is all.  2 out of 5 stars for Kong: Skull Island. I hope you enjoyed my review.

The space between us is directed by Peter Chelsom and stars Gary Oldman, Asa Butterfield, Carla Gugino, and Britt Robertson. The plot of the movie is the first human born on Mars travels to Earth for the first time, experiencing the wonders of the planet through fresh eyes. He embarks on an adventure with a street-smart girl to discover how he came to be.    I was looking forward to this movie until I started hearing about all the production issues. Last year this movie was supposed to come out at 2 or 3 different times.  After finally seeing the movie I understand why this movie kept getting pushed back and got so many negative reviews this movie is boring.  The only positive things about this movie are all the actors do the best they can with what they are given and the movie does get a bit better once Gardner played by Asa Butterfield and Tulsa played by Britt Robertson Meet up.    The first hour of this movie is following Gardner's life on Mars and that part is painfully slow and full of really bad dialogue  I almost fall asleep the only parts that kept me from falling asleep were when Gardner was talking with Tulsa online. When Gardner does get to Earth and meets Tulsa the film picks up a little, there are some nice moments between the two of them, but there is also more bad dialogue and a lot of cheesy moments. They do try a throw in a twist, but it is so predictable.    So this is probably my shortest review yet, but I really don't want to think about this movie anymore.  1 out of 5 stars for The Space between us. I hope you enjoyed my review.

Logan is directed by James Mangold and stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook Stephen Merchant, and Dafne Keen. The plot of the movie is. In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.    Before going to see this movie I was expecting to hate it because I haven't liked any of the other films in the X-men series, but then I started hearing that even people who don't really like comic book movies like this film.  This movie is fucking great. Before I go into why this film is so good I want you to be aware that this film definitely earns its R rating. This film is brutal and I loved that they didn't hold back. Wolverine goes nuts on people and it's definitely not a family film.    I would say that this is more in line with what Christopher Nolan did with Batman and less like we've seen with other comic book movies. This is a very serious drama with action sprinkled in. The movie does have humor, but thankfully it is kept to a minimum. Wolverine and Professor X almost have no hope left at all. Watching these characters especially the young girl grow to appreciate and learn to help each other it's fantastic.    In this movie, they decided to make the X-men comics exist in this story which are viewed as made up stories. I thought that was an interesting choice one of the funniest parts is when Wolverine picks one up and says that the comic is bullshit.   My only complaint about the movie is that I thought it dragged right up until the girl showed up and joined Wolverine and Professor X I get that you have to set up these characters in this new time period, but it feels like it goes on for too long. I did find the ending to be very emotional and I did start to tear up something I would never have expected from this type of movie.  While I did mention that I haven't been a fan of the X-men films I have always thought Hugh Jackman does an amazing job and here he gives one final fantastic performance. Patrick Stewart is also amazing in this movie and the little girl was very good as well.    This movie surprised the hell out of me and it's a shame that just when I get into this series Hugh Jackman is done with it.  4 out of 5 stars for Logan. I hope you enjoyed my review.
