THE NUN MOVIE REVIEW

The Nun is directed by Corin Hardy and stars Demian Bichir, Taissa Farmiga and Jonas Bloquet. The plot of the movie is a priest with a hunted past and a novice on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate the death of a young nun in Romania and confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun.    This movie is the fifth installment in the Conjuring Universe before this I had only seen one of those movies, so I was worried I wouldn't know what the hell was going on.  Luckily you can go into this without knowing anything because it is a prequel.  The one good thing I can say about this film is that the actors do a decent job with what they are given. No one in this movie is awful, but at the same time, they could have been a lot better.   I found this film to be very unappealing visually I don't think that there is an interesting shot in this entire film. The whole movie looks the exact same with hardly any contrast distinguishing the scenes from one another.    All of the sets are very dark this is a very poorly lit film. They are all drenched in this very thick heavy fog. This movie looks like it was shot at a local haunted house park for Halloween. This film is also littered with poorly written dialogue. Often I found myself laughing when I'm not supposed to be.  Easily the worst offense of all is that every single scare in this movie is so unacceptably predictable. There is not a single scare in this movie that I couldn't see coming and it's because they broadcast every scare with practically neon lights alerting you. The music gets really quiet and when it's just silent enough something pops out. I have seen that done countless times in horror movies.  The Nun is one of the laziest horror movies I have ever seen.  1 out of 5 stars for The Nun. I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope it helped you decide whether to see the movie or not.
