THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK MOVIE REVIEW

The Lost World: Jurassic Park is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Moore, Pete Postlethwaite, Arliss Howard, Richard Attenborough, Vince Vaugh, Richard Schiff and Vanessa Lee Chester. The plot of the movie is a research team is sent to the Jurassic Park Site B island to study the dinosaurs there while another team approaches with another agenda.    I know this movie has its fans I am not one of them. I just find this movie to be dull and not very entertaining. It does have some good things about it, but overall it was a major disappointment.  One of the big problems is I don't care about any of the new characters. Ian Malcolm played once again by Jeff Goldblum is the only returning character that has a lot of screentime, and he is just as entertaining as he was in the last movie.  Julianne Moore plays Ian Malcolm's girlfriend and I felt that there wasn't a lot to her character.  Malcolm's daughter comes along with the group to the Island. They do the father bonding with his daughter story that we have seen a ton of times before. Compared to the characters in the first movie which were great they had great characteristics and you wanted to see them survive. I couldn't care less if the characters in this movie survived.    This movie goes for a darker tone and that's okay this movie is trying to be different. I appreciate that they tried to make a different type of film, but I feel that hurt it a little by making it darker and a lot less fun that made it a lot less engaging.   All the animatronic stuff in this movie is still fantastic as is the CGI.  Some of the shots during the day you can totally tell are fake, but the rest of it is fantastic.    There are some great action sequences spread throughout. The first one being when the two T-Rexs attack and the part where Julianne Moore's character lands on the glass is pretty suspenseful.  Then you have the scene when the Raptors are in the field and they are slowly taking down the group that scene is awesome.   Easily is worst scene in this movie is when the daughter takes out a Raptor by doing gymnastics it's just plain stupid.    Spielberg still did a great job directing this film. I think if they had brought back more of the original cast the movie would have been a lot more engaging.    2 out of 5 stars for The Lost World: Jurassic Park. I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope it helped you decide whether to see the movie or not.
