MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS MOVIE REVIEW

Murder On the Orient Express is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Kenneth Branagh, Penelope Cruz, Willem Defoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Deep, Josh Gad, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odom Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer and Daisy Ridley.  The plot of the movie is a lavish train ride unfolds into a stylish and Suspenseful mystery. From the novel by Agatha Christie, Murder on the Orient Express tells of thirteen strained strangers and one man's race to solve the puzzle before the murderer strikes again.    I was very excited to see this movie I love murder mysteries. Leaving the movie I was unsure what my thoughts where. I've thought about it and while the film does have good things in it, overall I was very disappointed and am not going to remember this film in a few days.    I love the way this film is shot I love movies that take place in one location and a majority of this movie does that. I do think that everyone in the cast does a fantastic job. Kenneth Branagh is a lot of fun to watch especially in the scenes where he is not necessarily trying to solve the murder. Branagh brings a lot of personality to his character. Daisy Ridley did amazing with what little she was given. I loved her in Star Wars The Force Awakens and I can't wait to see more from her. When I saw that Johnny Deep was in the movie I dreaded going to see it because I thought he was just going to be Jack Sparrow again, but he wasn't and he gave one of the best performances in the movie.    While the movie is acted well I felt that there wasn't that much to any of the characters. The movie started out very funny very clever and then after it starts to get into the actual mystery the energy drops out of this thing. It becomes very slow which would have been fine if the characters had some development, but they don't. It was also hard to keep track of who everybody was. The best murder mysteries are the ones where the audience can play along, unfortunately, you are not able to do that with this movie. So as a murder mystery it fails.     2 out of 5 stars for Murder On the Orient Express. I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope it helped you decide whether to see the movie or not.
